DEVIL MAY CRY 5: (DMC5)

A Hack ‘n’ Slash Extravaganza for players how like to let loose and hack and slash their way through demons in a blood and guts gore fest. Enticing Characters, old school gameplay and a strong storyline. This game completely outclassed its predecessor DmC, retconning it and rejuvenating the series for new players.

Summery:

Follow the story of three playable characters: Dante, Nero and V, master their unique style of combat and earn the classic rating of SSS (Super Sexy Style). As you fight your way through countless insect like demons in a festival of blood and gore as you make your way to fight Vergil, older twin brother of Dante and the true antagonist. Fight as Nero: a cocky yet skilled demon hunter with a badass streak. Play as Dante: a smooth talking, versatile, legendary demon hunter and the face of the Devil May Cry Series since its first release. Also take control of new comer V: a mysterious, emo like character who provides a refreshing take on the series with unique features.

Playability:

As the player, you play through the storyline using these unique characters each with their own combat style and features. Nero is the character build for close combat using his sword “Red Queen” and gun “Blue rose” for range damage. Dante the face of the franchise is the most versatile using a plethora of weapons both close and range based. Dante is the character built for versatility and range as the player can find their own unique way of fight with Dante. V is the most unique character in the game. His fighting style relies on range using summoned demonic beasts and finishing off enemies with V’s trusted cane. V is by far the most unique playable character and it this uniqueness that provides the player with a fresh perspective.

Graphics:

The graphics for this game are nothing than short of perfections. The characters including the NPCs are all highly detailed, the enemies are frightening and mind bogglingly scary and the level design is perfection as you descend deeper and deeper into a gory hell. The Character are also designed extremely well and with purpose. Although while the girls are designed a lot more seductively however, I believe this works to its advantage. The reason being is that these NPC girls are strong, confident and fiercely independent. Meanwhile the main characters are designed with a rock ‘n’ roll, punk and emo design respectively which reflects their personality to a tee.   

SFX:

For me personally the SFX is the icing on the cake for this game. The music is rock ‘n’ roll heaven with clean cut vocals and after a while you can’t help but sing along to the vocals. Personally, my favourite SFX is “Silver Bullet” the final boss theme. The reason being it is a rendition of another SFX music known as “Devil Trigger”. This works so well because is displays emotion, action and tension. However, there is more to this as the voice acting in this game is exceptional. Each voice actor illuminates and inhabits these characters to a tee. Personally, my favourite actor is Daniel Southworth the voice actor for Vergil. In my opinion I cannot see or hear Vergil without thinking of Daniel Southworth. As his voices gives off a sense of confidence, experience and calmness. This works extremely well with Dante’s voice actor Reuben Langdon. Reuben who has voiced Dante for most of the games gives Dante’s character a sense of cockiness, rebellion and above all a devil may care attitude.

DLCs:

Recent announcements have shown that Vergil will become a playable character and personally I cannot wait. As Vergil, for me, is one of my all-time favourite videogame characters. Only time can tell what the combat will be like as you fight your way through hordes of demons as the calm, cool and collected Vergil.

Conclusion:

This is a hack ‘n’ slash dream for any player who loves the genre. The game provides a sense of balance with different playable characters with different combat styles. There is also a good amount content for those players who are perfectionists. With “Bloody Palace” the game provides a sense of enjoyment with players who like to let loose. The storyline itself is very compelling with emotion, theme and suspense. Focusing on the relationship of family Devil May cry 5 will have playing on the edge wanting more.
