Sypro the Dragon (Remastered)

In the early 1990s saw the pinnacle of Sony Entertainment and the rise of its iconic game console the PlayStation 1. From this rose several games that developed somewhat of a cult following. From these games came a character who became an unofficial mascot for Sony: and that was Spyro the Dragon. This game led to a franchise to two successful sequel games and other developments that didn’t meet with much success. Then came ‘Toys for Bob’ who remastered the original series and it’s a slice of nostalgia goodness.

Summery:

Toys for Bob have done a beautiful job in remastering the Spyro original trilogy in all of its glory. The storyline is a remastered masterpiece following the exact same storyline with updated graphics, remastered SFX and beautifully remastered animations. Play as the lovable adolescent purple dragon Spyro as the player traverses through a collection of worlds. Fire blast enemies, free your dragon brethren and collected all the dragon treasure while facing ‘Gnasty Gnork’.

Playability:

This game follows all the classic gameplay mechanics from the original series in all of its glory. Playing this game is like playing a piece of video game history with all the perks, none of the drawbacks. Playing this game is fun, enjoyable and challenging. This games shows the using simplicity of complexity can still be a game selling hit.

Graphics:

The high definition graphics used are so colourful and eye-catching that they are edited in such a way that they illuminate the original series. Each graphic is placed in such a way that it is like looking into a mirror. Comparing the graphics is beyond comprehension but the level design and the assets is like a complete duplicate of the original series. Another positive which I find amazing is the redesign of the NPCs. Each NPCs is given a complete revamp and their design shows their own personality.

SFX:

The SFX used for this game is a beautiful remastered update. The voice acting is phenomenal, the sounds beautifully crafted to add to the fun and the background music is so enjoyable to listen to. Even the animations used are just nice to look at, each animation works so well with the sounds and effects that they complement each other to a tee.

DLCs:

No DLC has been announced for this game that I am aware of.

Conclusion:

This game is a piece of nostalgia heaven. This works in two ways, one: it gives players who played the original series a sense of familiarity reliving a piece from their childhood. Two: this game is a wonderful way of introducing kids to a game that isn’t blood infested, gory or in some cased sexualised. Overall, this game is a beautiful remastered addition to a new generation of players.
